Nintendo starts the New Year with new VC and WiiWare games

wii_small.jpgNintendo is set this week to launch a few WiiWare and Virtual Console titles to the Wii.

Jungle Speed for WiiWare is a 1-8 player card game in which players
use quick reflexes to match cards and grab the totem in the middle of
the table. It retails for 1,000 Wii Points.

Planet Pachinko for WiiWare is a 1-2 player parlor game in which
players must fight through dangerous pachinko temples in search of a
lost family dog. It retails for 500 Wii Points.

Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse is a 1-player title for the NES.
Players take the role of Trevor Belmont to battle Dracula. It retails
for 500 Wii Points.

Gaming industry analysts NPD Group reported that in December the Wii
sold two million units, making it top-selling console in the U.S.

It managed to increase Wii shipment forecasts to 27.5 million from 26.5
million and DS software shipments to 207 million from 197 million.

Wii has shipped 34.55 million units worldwide since launch, its
handheld cousin, the Nintendo DS, has shipped 84.33 million units,
beating shipments of the Game Boy Advance (81.36 million).
