Imagine a list of the top 10 “most innovative companies” in mobile technology in the world and a few names probably pop into your head: Google, Apple, Amazon, etc. Well, according to Fast Company’s annual list, the Ford Motor Company is right up there with them.
A spokeswoman for Ford told Absolute Gadget that was thanks to “the huge technology advances that Ford has been making with its SYNC platform” as well as the recently introduced MyFord Touch, which is “laser focused on helping the consumer bring their mobile life into the car with them safely”.
Fast Company ranked Ford fifth in the mobile technology category and Ford was the only automotive firm on the list. It’s also the first time an automaker has been recognised in that category.
“This honour represents Ford’s commitment to innovation and development of technology that enhances the driving experience and adds real value to the consumer,” said Mark Fields, Ford president in The Americas.
“We’re very proud of this recognition from Fast Company, and it is truly an accomplishment to be named amongst some of the leading technology innovators and mobile application developers.”
“The automaker has taken a great leap forward,” added Fast Company.
