Hold onto your pants, it’s not the official/unofficial Apple iPhone, it’s the clothes-stealing internet phone from Linksys. That’s right, with all rumour and no product flying around, someone has come out and released a product that uses the name Apple was allegedly hoping to splash across its music-playing phone.
The Voice over IP internet phone has beaten Apple to market by a month, if rumours of Apple’s phone launching at its Macworld trade show are worth the pixels displaying them.
Apple has still never officially announced any details of its alleged phone product and the internet rumours have all come from snippets of information in Apple patent applications and instructions in programs such as iTunes.
But if it is true and Steve Jobs was hoping to show it onstage in January, we now know one thing for certain: it won’t be called the iPhone.
