Microsoft
has assured users of its Xbox Live service that a recurrence of last
Christmas’ server meltdown won’t happen, despite the growing popularity
of the service.
The Xbox has had price cuts this year and and upgrade to its dashboard making the platform more popular among gamers.
But according to Microsoft Xbox 360 product manager Aaron Greenberg there is not going to be a repeat performance.
"We’ve built a lot of infrastructure, a lot of behind the curtain
no one sees," he told Kokatu. "This is something that Microsoft is good
at."
"We are well prepared for the type of growth we expect this holiday."
Greenberg said that if the worst does happen Microsoft has plans to deal with any problems.
"We
will have people standing by, more people on hand than we’ve ever had
before," he said. "Knock on wood we will hopefully not have any issues."
