Asus, do
these guys know when to stop churning out desirable computers? It’s
only gone and brought out a new desktop PC with a 15.6-inch touch
screen.

The new desktop eee PC, the Top 1602 boast "powerful
multimedia capacities", which we take to mean it has a great graphic
card and decent sound.

It features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
processor as well as a 160GB SATAII 5400 RPM hard drive, 802.11n
wireless support, two USB ports, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 1.3-megapixel
integrated web camera, and a GMA 950 Intel integrated graphics card
(hang on Asus you said powerful multimedia capabilities?) Although we
have found out that the ET1603 comes with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 to please the gamers among you.

The
box still shys away from Vista, plumping for good old Windows XP
instead. If you are waiting for a Linux version, wait a little longer –
Asus hasn’t announced availablility of this version. But fear not, you
can still use a version of Linux called ExpressGate mini OS which you
can access when booting up.

sound wise, thing are definately
sounding better. It comes with a Denon 4W speaker system and the sound
sub-system is an SRS Premium jobby.

As for the touchscreen
element, the Asus PC comes with SoftStylus for on-screen finger writing
and a touch-monitored version of opera. It also boasts an SDHC card
reader and Eee Cinema.

The Eee Top 1602 is expected to be out shortly and yours for the modest sum of £449.
