Vax Air Cordless U86-AL-B review

Cordless vacuum cleaners are nothing new but for the most part these cleaners have tended to be the smaller machines designed for quick jobs around a small house or flat.

Vax’s new Air Cordless has scaled up this type of vacuum while retaining its cordless feature. It bills itself the only full-size, cordless, cyclonic vacuum in the UK that can clean your entire home with no loss of suction.

The machine is ultra lightweight at just 4.6kg. The cleaner sports Air Motion Technology, which it said, makes it incredibly easy to manoeuvre and steer around furniture. In use, it is light and smooth to use and almost ready to use straight out of the box.

The cleaner comes with two LithiumLife batteries to provide up to 50 minutes of power to clean both carpets and hard floors. It claims this is enough to clean a 232sqm home with no loss of suction and without recharging.

It also has WindTunnel 3 Technology which uses three channels of suction to lift and remove deep-down, embedded dirt, maximising the intake and flow of air through the vacuum, and in combination with the brush bar’s contact with the floor.

The Vax Air vacuum cleaner has a high capacity and easy to empty dirty cup also holds up to 1.05 litres. It is also equipped with reusable easy rinse filter, which allows you to rinse the filter in order to maintain power for cleaning. There is also a removable cleaning wand, which is easy to use and ideal for cleaning around furniture, up and down stairs and above the floor.

Also included is a 2-in-1 dusting and crevice tool, which can be used to clean vents, furniture surfaces and other difficult to reach places.

There is also an additional filter and a hard floor brushroll with extra soft bristles for cleaning hard floors. A pivoting dusting tool is also included, to help with cleaning raised shelves and cupboards. This makes it far easier to clean at height in a safe and comfortable manner.

Despite it being a cordless vacuum, we were amazed at how powerful the suction is on this model. It picks up dirt and even pet hairs quite well but a big concern for us is that the hose is very short even with the wand attached.

Overall we have been really impressed. It is very good for anyone who wants something that easy to manoeuvre without the nuisance of heaving a cord around everywhere.
