acer_AS3410If you thought you was having a hot flush it may just be your laptop. Acer has recalled several models from its laptop range over concern with overheating.

Five models have been highlighted as having possible problems because of fafulty wiring in the laptop.

“In the affected units the microphone cable may overheat when extreme pressure is applied repeatedly to the left palm rest,” said Acer’s product advisory. “As a result, the unit case may become deformed and the system may malfunction.”

“Acer has voluntarily instituted a safety recall program to proactively replace the microphone cable in the affected units to eliminate any risk of overheating,” the company added.

The problem laptops are the Acer Aspire AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG. The issue only affects models manufactured before 15 September this year.

Acer’s website can be checked by entering your laptop’s serial and identification numbers to see if it needs replacement wiring. Alternatively, if your legs are feeling hotter than normal that may well be a reasonable indication too.
