If you have a PS3 you’ll be pleased to know that when you have finished playing Call of Duty, you can relax with a spot of Corrie or even Phil and Kirstie instead. Sony have announced that ITV’s and Channel Four’s video catch-up services are coming to the PS3.
Catching the run-up to Christmas, the launch is with casual gamers in mind that may have been attracted to the console wiht the recent addition of the PlayStation Move accessory.
Sony believes that overall traffic to the commercial TV VOD services will improve by around 10 per cent as a result.
The services are expected to come online this week and will join BBC’s iPlayer, which has been on the console for some time now.
Robin Pembroke, ITV.com’s managing director, told The Guardian that the deal with Sony represents an “acceleration of our distribution strategy.”
