Tesco Mobile has today launched what it believes is the UK’s cheapest mobile phone contract. And with unlimited texting and 100 call minutes for just £6 a month, it’s likely you’ll agree…
“At just £6 a month, the tariff is considerably cheaper than any other deal available and highlights the growing demand for good value, no frills mobile deals,” a Tesco spokeswoman told AG.
The deal sees users sign up to a one month SIM only contract, so there are no lengthy commitments involved. Tesco Mobile customers also get Clubcard points based on their monthly payments.
The tariff is available online and over the phone and apparently customers can use the 100 minutes a month how they choose – although it’s not clear yet if that includes internet access.
“We’ve seen a big increase in SIM only mobile tariffs as savvy spenders hang on to their handsets and shop around for the best tariffs available,” said Lance Batchelor, CEO of Tesco Mobile and Tesco Telecoms.
Batchelor added that research conducted by Tesco Mobile showed that less than five per cent of mobile users are currently able to spend less than £10 a month on their phone.
A hefty 31.6 per cent 16 to 24-year-olds are the highest spending age group for mobile contracts, spending more than £30 a month on their mobile bills.
