Dutch satnav outfit TomTom has a pretty good line in satnavs and so it’s good to see the company making budget line-up a little more appealing for the cost-conscious consumer.

The company has already unveiled new lifetime map and traffic options for its navigation units in the US and now its doing the same thing for Brits.

The 3.5-inch TomTom Start2 and 4.3-inch XL IQ Routes edition, both come with TomTom’s IQ Routes technology, alongside RDS-TMC traffic data, and other features such as spoken street names and advanced lane guidance.

“The device will also plan an alternative route, helping drivers get to where they want to be on time,” explains TomTom’s release.

The Start2 looks set to replace the highly sucessful TomTom One but alsocomes with interchangeable StartSkins covers, sold separately for £14.99 each. Both should be available in May, with the Start2 going for £119 and the XL IQ Routes edition 2 retailing for £139 in the UK and Ireland while Western Europe will cost £159.
