“Sociable and friendly” is the way LG describes its two new Cookie handsets. The Cookie Plus (LG GS500) and Cookie Fresh (LG GS290) mobile phones apparently “provide for a more exciting touchscreen experience”, putting an end to the humdrum touchscreen experience that has held mankind back thus far.
The LG Cookie sold over 13 million units worldwide, and LG will be hoping the new phones’ mix of full touchscreen, social networks, mobile apps and “advanced graphics” will repeat the feat.
To help it along, the phone offers connectivity to the smart social network service (SNS) and “unique features such as LiveSquare” (which assigns avatars to your social network friends and keeps track of your conversations in “a visually creative way”).
On top of that there’s a cartoon-styled user interface with colourful themes and support for downloadable applications such as The New York Times, eBay Search, Amazon Search and Fox News.
Dr Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, said the phones offered various features to suit different tastes “while maintaining the core features of the original LG Cookie phone”.
Those craving a new look may prefer to opt for the LG Cookie Fresh, which is available in 16 different colours.
Both models will be available this month with prices to be announced.
