After many months of rumours about Twitter getting an advertising model, details are finally starting to leak through.
Peter Kafka, a writer for the website All Things Digital, has revealed the basics of the model, revealed to him by “people who have been briefed by the company”.
Basically, ads will be connected to the search engine. If you just use Twitter to browse the latest posts of those you’re following, you won’t see any ads. However, once you input a search term, the ads will kick in and you’ll see them amongst your search results. They’ll use the standard 140 characters of text.
Kafka has said that the platform’s still being tested and no date is set – but it’s expected within six months.
