HD’s the big new thing, you know. And Orange knows it – the company is planning to be the first mobile phone provider to start offering High Definition Voice services later this year.
The HD Voice service will, obviously, require phones with a dedicated HD Voice feature. Orange has said it’s working with “leading mobile phone manufacturers” to develop HDV-enabled handsets that will be launched this year.
If you’re wondering how a phone call can be HD, the service will apparently offer a higher call bandwidth of 500-700Hz compared to the previous 300-500Hz. Orange has said that the service will make callers feel as if they’re in the same room as the person they’re calling.
Orange CEO, Tom Alexander, said: “Orange is proud to be leading the industry into the next decade by announcing a new standard in voice innovation that will transform the mobile experience for customers in the UK.”
