Last week we heard from Freecom, which announced its Hard Drive XS 3.0 – allegedly the first external hard drive in the world to offer SuperSpeed USB technology. Today Buffalo Technology responded, with news of the “first to market SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external hard disk drive.” So, will the Buffalo be in shops while Freecom is still prepping its launch?
Well, Buffalo says its drive (which was first shown off at the Intel Developer Forum 9 (IDF) in San Francisco on 22 September) will be in shops in Europe, the Middle East and Africa during Q4 2009. That can be anytime from October to December.
Meanwhile, Freecom’s Hard Drive XS 3.0 will be available in Europe from mid-November…
While we wait to see who actually wins the race, here’s the details on Buffalo’s DriveStation HD-HXU3:
It offers:
* SuperSpeed transfer speeds of up to 125MBps
* A slick, black glossy design
* 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities.
