Want
a touch screen phone to make you iPhone-owning buddies green with envy.
Samsung is to launch an new solar-powered smartphone dubbed "Blue
Earth".
Supposedly the Blue Earth "symbolise a flat and well
rounded shiny pebble", well that’s enough of the marketing speak what
does it do. The solar panel on the back of the phone should provide
enough power for you to make a call anytime.
The phone is also
made out of recycled plastic bottles. The vendor has also made the
phone free from toxic substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants,
Beryllium and Phthalate.
It also sports an "Eco Mode" which screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth can be adjusted or switched off.
Gimmick-wise,
it features an "eco walk" function, which is basically a pedometer that
calculates how much CO2 you have saved by walking and not getting in
the car.
The phone will be available in the second half of the year.
