Nokia fans eagerly awaiting the release of the N900 don’t have long to go! The Carphone Warehouse’s retail stores in the UK will be the first to offer the handset on 26 December, while Vodafone’s UK stores will follow suit on 7 January 2010.
The Nokia N900 will be available from £35 on a 24 month contract and both stores are now taking pre-orders. The N900 is also available to pre-order from www.shop.nokia.co.uk.
The N900 is Nokia’s first mobile phone powered by the Linux-based Maemo 5 software and the company said it “packs a PC-like computing experience into a mobile handset form-factor”.
Key features include:
* Web browsing, including video and interactive applications
* Four customisable home screens
* Multi-tasking, with up to 21 tasks open at once
* Comes pre-loaded with Nokia’s Ovi Maps.
* 5.0-megapixel camera
* 3.4-inch high-resolution touchscreen
* Full Qwerty keyboard.
“With Mozilla web browsing technology and Adobe Flash Player 9.4 on board, the N900 provides consumers with a full web experience on a mobile,” said a Nokia suit.
“Browsing now includes video streaming and access to interactive websites that use drop down menus and other features to simplify usage of applications and services.”
