Well, yes. Nintendo wants to find the Wii winner, the DS demon, the…gamer in the UK who is best at playing certain Nintendo games. Okay, we ran out of alliteration.
Anyway, next month various Game and Gamestation stores across the country will be hosting regional heats, with gamers being asked to test their skills on Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros.
The top two players at each store will go forward to the grand final in London – the Odeon in Covent Garden, to be precise – to face off on the UK’s first copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
The winner gets a trip for five people to Nintendo’s hometown of Kyoto, worth £10,000, which will be presented by Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario. (And Luigi, and Wario, and…)
What’s more, all 16 finalists will win every piece of first-party software (i.e. games made by Nintendo themselves) released for the following 12 months.
The regional heats take place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October in these here shops:
