samsung_ultra-compact_hmx-u10_pocket_camcorder.jpgSome companies like to drip-feed their products to market, others prefer to turn on the hose and splash a lot of them about all at once. Thankfully for Samsung there’s no hosepipe ban at the moment or we’d have to report it, after the company announced a number of cameras and camcorders this week.

First up are the SMX-K40 and SMX-K44 camcorders, which record videos in standard definition at a resolution of 720 x 480 and then up-scale that footage to near full-HD when viewing through an HDMI output. The SMX-K44 has an internal 16GB Solid State Drive for up to 10 hours of recording, while the SMX-K40 does not have internal storage and requires the use of an SD/SDHC card. Both models are available from August 2009.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s ultra-Compact HMX-U10 Pocket Camcorder takes full-HD video and 10-megapixel stills for fast and easy sharing. The one-touch upload button provides a direct connection to YouTube to have footage online in seconds, while the HMX-U10 also allows basic on-camera editing, including the ability to split video files. It’ll be available in September 2009.

Samsung also released a number of cameras, including the ES17 which comes with 3x optical zoom lens, 12-megapixel capture, Face Detection technology and Digital Image Stabilisation – all for just £89.

Elsewhere, the The PL55 family friendly snapper includes Smart Auto scene recognition, Smart Album digital contents management,
Face, Smile and Blink Detection and Digital Image Stabilisation. It also features a Frame Guide that takes a ghost image before you hand over the camera, so other tourists can see the scene you wanted to capture with you in it. It’ll have a £149 price tag when it’s released in August 2009.

Also announced was the PL70, which boasts a compact 5x optical zoom, a 28mm wide angle lens and HD movie recording courtesy of its 12-megapixels. It’ll be out in August 2009 priced at around £199.
